What’s in the November 2026 Family Meal Plan?

November’s recipes bring pumpkin, butternut squash, kale, and cabbage to the table alongside warming soups and familiar comfort foods. There’s also room for ginger beef, jerk chicken pasta, and steak fajitas when you want a change from the usual fall flavors.
This month’s meal ideas include:

  • Soups, stews, chowder, and chili for cooler evenings
  • Pasta dinners, stuffed shells, and orzo
  • Turkey breast, prime rib, and other hearty mains
  • Meatless options featuring beans, lentils, and tofu
  • Seasonal sides to pair with dinner or add to a holiday spread

Two of this month’s entries, German Braised Red Cabbage and Twice Baked Mashed Potatoes, are side dishes. Pair them with your choice of main; serve them alongside one of this month’s roasts, or add them to your Thanksgiving menu.

Week-by-Week Highlights

Week 1: A Warm Start to November

Start the month with Creamy Split Pea Soup, then change things up with Ginger Beef. My Dutch Oven Prime Rib is also on the calendar this week; move it to the weekend if that’s when you have more time for a roast dinner. Pumpkin Coconut Curry Soup brings another fall-inspired option, while Kale Pesto Orzo adds a little green to the lineup.

Week 2: Squash, Soup, and Pasta Favorites

This week makes good use of fall squash with Orzo Soup with Butternut and White Beans and Spaghetti Squash Enchiladas. Chicken Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomatoes adds a creamy pasta night, and Beef and Barley Stew is another hearty option. Round out the meal with Twice Baked Mashed Potatoes with roast chicken and a green vegetable for a complete dinner.

Week 3: Holiday Inspiration and Comfort Food

If you’re planning a smaller holiday meal, take a look at the Brined Boneless Turkey Breast with Maple Glaze. You can move it closer to Thanksgiving and pair it with my German Braised Red Cabbage. For everyday dinners, this week’s choices include Green Lentil Soup with Coconut Milk and Bulgur Wheat, Pumpkin Chili, and Ham and Corn Chowder.

Week 4: Flexible Dinners for Thanksgiving Week

Keep this week’s plan flexible around your holiday cooking. Homemade Chicken and Dumpling Soup and One-Pot Taco Tortellini give you dinner ideas for the days around the celebration. Tofu Ricotta Stuffed Shells with Spinach adds a meatless option, and Roasted Butternut Squash Soup rounds out the week.
If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving on November 26, swap that day’s calendar recipe for your holiday menu and leave space for leftovers afterward. There’s no need to cook something new just because it’s on the calendar!

Week 5: Two More Ideas to Finish the Month

November finishes with Beef Stew and Dumplings for Sunday dinner and Naan Taco Pizza for a change of pace on Monday. Use either as inspiration if you’re ready for something different after the holiday weekend.

How to Use the Monthly Meal Plan

Start with the recipes that suit your week, then move the others around your schedule. Check cooking times and any brining or prep instructions before assigning a meal to a busy evening. The roast dinners may fit better on a weekend, while a soup or pasta dish might suit a school night.
Save the PDF on your phone or tablet to open the recipe links, or print it for the fridge. Breakfast and lunch are left open so you can stick with your usual favorites and make room for dinner leftovers.

Make the Most of Your Groceries

Look for ingredients that appear more than once before writing your shopping list:

  • Orzo: Both Kale Pesto Orzo and the Butternut and White Bean Soup use it. Check the quantities before buying another package.
  • Butternut squash: The orzo soup and roasted squash soup give you two ways to use it. Move those meals closer together if you’re sharing ingredients between them.
  • Ham: Compare the amounts needed for the Spinach Ham Quiche and Ham and Corn Chowder, then buy for both if you’re making them in the same week.
  • Check each recipe’s ingredient list before combining purchases, and start with what you already have at home.

Looking to Finish the Meal with Something Sweet?

For November baking, I’m keeping pumpkin, apples, and warm spices in the mix. These treats would fit just as nicely after a weekend dinner as they would on a dessert table for friends and family:
